Day of Eating in San Francisco

These are some of my favorite eats in the city. It's an idiosyncratic list, full of places that I've gone back to when I go up to "The City". I've been sending this list over email to visitors to San Francisco for a few years and realized I should just publish it.

Breakfast:
Tartine (Mission, 18th and Guerrero)
Best item: Quiche, get it warmed and eat it in the restaurant if you can snag a seat

Just for You Cafe (Dog Patch)
Not to be missed: Beignets

Snacks:
All Macarons all the time

Nothing but chocolate Truffles made by a former French chef

Ferry Building
Fun and original: Meat cone
Best thing there: Rose Geranium Macarons
Personal favorite: Soy hot chocolate

Dinner:
Incanto (Noe Valley)
Northern Italian

Hard Knox Cafe (Dog Patch)
Soul Food made by Koreans

Raw Vegan
Get this before the restaurant goes away: I am Cool shake

New Sun Hong Kong (Chinatown)
Chinese
Order this & a plate of fried rice: House Special Crab
Why the fried rice? So you can put the little fried bits that fall off the crab on top of the rice and eat them together. I don't recommend anything else, if you get any other Chinese item, you might be sad.

Kiss Seafood (Japantown)
Omakase. Just do it. The chef and his wife are adorable and the fish is the most amazing I have ever had.
